We received an order to transport a transformer from Linz to Eichet near Salzburg. The transporter weighed 80 tonnes, was 6.50 m long, 3.50 m broad and 3.90 m high.
Although the job initially sounded problematic we were able to carry out the transfer without any hitches.
We transported the transformer from Linz to our premises in Grödig using our 160-to truck-mounted crane to unload the transformer. The low-loader was converted from a 9-axle low-bed trailer to a 6-axle trailer platform truck and the transformer was then reloaded.
The path to the substation led over country routes and was covered with special road surface metal plates.
The transformer was lifted into place at the substation using a truck-mounted crane.
